On our way from Manhattan to Old Forge, we pass Speculator or "Spec". I stopped there once, years ago, on my way to summer camp and then again more recently when a colleague at work asked if we could drop her off at her family's house there. It's a charming little town, and we hear that Melody Lodge (appearing above in its original form, when it was built as a singing school for girls) is a lovely place to dine. We look forward to visiting it soon.

Dining in Speculator: Melody Lodge
